I recently stumbled across this Book Tag and I realised that I haven’t done one myself in a while and thought it would be cool one to do. With everyone staying at home at the moment because of Lockdown and Corona, I thought this was a good Book Tag to do and a little something get to know each other a little better.
Laying In Bed – A Book You Read In One Day:-
The first book that comes to mind is the most recent book that I have read through in one day and that is Six Wicked Reasons by Jo Spain. I read this book, which is a 400+ page book, in one day while sitting out in the garden, as the story and plot just captivated me and was such a page turner. It also helped that being out in the garden meant I was away from the internet and distraction from my phone, which was beautiful, but allowed me to get more engrossed in this book as I had fewer distractions.
Snacking – A Book That Is A Guilty Pleasure:-
I don’t why, but my guilty pleasure is the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. I’ve only read the first two books in the series, but so far I’m enjoying them and they always feel like my guilty read when I pick them up. Possibly because of the Vampire element and how it has been over done.
Netflix – A Series That You Want To Start:-
I really want to start the Mortal Engines series by Phillip Reeve and it is a series I plan to begin reading this year. The only reason I haven’t started it yet is I don’t know if my partner wants to read it again and do it as a Buddy Read. Apart of me hopes not, as this is going to slow it down, but also I will have someone to talk to about them.
Deep Clean – A Book That Has Been On Your TBR For Ages:-
Oh my! There are so many to mention. I have a bad habit of over buying books and not reading them because I simply don’t have the time to read them all. I went through a stage of reading my way through Jodi Picoult books and I bought them all in order to do this, whether they were brand new of discoveries in charity shops. Sadly, I still haven’t read them all as over time my reading tastes have changed or I’ve become aware of new authors.
Animal Crossing – A Book You Recently Bought Because Of The Hype:-
To my defence I have been reading a lot of fantasy lately but, one book that I bought because of the hype was The Priory Of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I didn’t realise how much of a chucker this book was and now that I have it, it’s so intimidating.
Productivity – A Book You Learned From Or Had An Impact On You:-
I recently read Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 by Cho Nam-Joo, Jamie Change (Translator) which was such an insightful and thought provoking book. I knew beforehand from the description that it was going to be a powerful read. This was written in such a brutal, powerful and eye opening way. Right down to the bitter final sentence.
FaceTime – A Book You Were Gifted:-
I have been gifted a good few books over my life and I have done a good job at reading through them. But I do have a few that I still own that I still haven’t read. Those are Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen, The Muse by Jessie Burton and Dragon’s Green by Scarlett Thomas. All of these I am hoping to get to.
Self-Care – What Is One Thing You Have Done Recently To Look After Yourself:-
Something I’ve realised is super important lately, in regards in looking after yourself and that is, do not feel bad if you’re having an off day. My partner is now back at work and I have been feeling guilty about still being furloughed and at home, so I have been trying to keep busy because I’ve been feeling guilty that he’s at work; cleaning when there’s nothing to clean etc. But lately I’ve come to realise that I shouldn’t feel guilty because it’s not my doing and I should actually learn to enjoy some down time (as long as the house and myself aren’t left in complete disarray) because when are we going to have this time to enjoy again?
BONUS – An Upcoming Release You Are Looking Forward To:-
I am looking forward to quite a few upcoming book releases this year, there seem to be a few good ones coming out at the moment. One of the ones I am really excited about is Malorie by Josh Malerman. This is the sequel to Birdbox! I really enjoyed Birdbox but I was a little disappointed because of the unknown. I am hoping to get a little bit more information and more answers in this sequel.
