It’s that time of year again everyone, where we all challenge ourselves over the summer to read a selected amount of books. You have the option to join in and choose between reading 10, 15 or if you’re really daring, 20 books this summer! I’m always up for a challenge so I’m going to be selecting to read 20 books this summer, so fingers crossed. Just take a photo of your chosen TBR and off you go.
This is a recurring challenge hosted by Cathy746Books and is one that I participated in last year. Check out her site as it gives a lot more details, plus you can also link up your “20 Books Of Summer 2020” post so she knows who’s participating this year.
My main problem when it comes to these types of challenges is selecting my TBR in advance. Especially for this one which takes place over three months!! and I am more of a mood reader. I am going to do a bit of a mixed TBR, which I will hopefully stick to, but I’m not going to worry if I drift a little, as long as I read 20 books this Summer.
Pick your own books you want to read during this challenge, whether you want to read 10, 15 or 20 and use the hashtag #20booksofsummer20 when talking about each of the books. The challenge takes place between 1st June to 1st September.
I have only chosen 12 books for my TBR instead of 20, for two reasons. I want to have some leg room to change my TBR around if my mood wants me to and this missing 8 books feels like it allows me to do that. I also want to read and reduce the books on my NetGalley shelf and other books I currently have to read, which aren’t physical books, so again, leaving room for 8 books to allow me to do this. Thank you. I had them both for gifts and I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to read them both. I can’t wait any longer, especially with the new series for Little Fires Everywhere being released and the advert for it being shown everywhere!! I’m afraid I’m going to be shown spoilers for it 🙅♀️

oooh, you have to read Jesse Burton, so glad you’re getting around to it. No pressure. I want to read the third book in the Southern Reach trilogy (Annhiliation is book one it’s so weird and good!) but I’ve bought so many books and I was trying to find a fairly cheap copy.
Shall I do this 20 books of summer this year? Thinking about it.

Yepp I’m finally getting round to it and I’m hoping it’s going to be as good as you and Rachel keep telling me. I’ve been enjoying weird books that have been outside my usual genre so I think I’m going to enjoy Annihilation.
You should! It doesn’t have to be 20 books!! I’m going to try and read as much before we go back to work, as we both know we’re not going to have much time to read. (Im kinda hoping for an additional three weeks lockdown at the end of June so we don’t go back to for my birthday – because that will suck!)
