This weeks reading has been a been a successful week in the terms of sticking to my original TBR, by overall I feel a little let down by this weeks reading. There was nothing I read this week that I really loved and gave five stars, plus I didn’t add any additional reads this week. I have also been a little ill this week, which did help me as I was lagging and that day spent cwtched up in bed was well spent.
The first book I read this week was The Holiday by T.M. Logan, which has been on my TBR since it has been released. This book was a good mystery, suspense book, but this is the perfect example of where the tagline gave away too much and ruined this book. Whether it built up my expectations of what I thought this book was going to be about, or it just spoiled the overall plot of the book. Without that tagline, I know for a fact, I would’ve enjoyed and rated this book so much more, but also, would I have picked it up without that tagline?

The second book I read this week was a book that me and my partner we reading together as part of a little Buddy Read together and that book is The Black Box by Michael Connelly. I was pretty immersed in this book and in the investigation within this book and liked the idea behind this story of the twenty year old Unsolved Cold Case. This was my first Michael Connelly book I’ve read and although it’s the 16th book in the Harry Bosch series, it can be read as a standalone. I did like his writing and enjoyed seeing how this whole book came together, there were parts where you could tell and see that this book was a little dated.
I am going to be posting a full review of this book on Tuesday so keep an eye out!
The third book I completed this week was the book I picked out of my NetGalley/Amazon review pick and that book was Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese. This book turned into a little bit of a surprise me as when I selected it, I thought it was a simple romance/contemporary read, however this turned out to be a New Adult book and I think we all know what that’s code for. But on saying that, I actually enjoyed this book! Hands up and no shame. This is actually one of the better New Adult books that I have read *Not that I read a lot, cough,*. This book actually had a really good story behind it that had me wanting to read more and it had a good bunch of characters that had some really good development.

The last book I read this week is a book that I have had on my review pile for a while and that’s Sanctuary by Luca D’Andrea. This book was such a disappointment to me. The synopsis sounded so good but it fell short for me and I just didn’t enjoy it. I have picked this up and put it down several times in the past and is a book I wish that I had ultimately just DNFed and read something else. I don’t know if this is just one that I just didn’t click with because it does have some really good reviews, which is one of the reason I stuck this one out, or if it’s because it’s a translation book. Either way, although there were some suspenseful parts, this book was not for me at all.
As you can see, there’s no additional books added this week from my original TBR and is one of my smallest Wrap Ups in the last couple of weeks. Two of the books I read this week were review copies and one of the books was for a Buddy Read. When I go back to work, I’m going to look back on four books and think how did I do that? Who else is reading more now we’re on lockdown?
These are my reading stats for this Weekly Reading Wrap Up:

- Only When It’s Us – (E. Book) – 347 Pages
