After last weeks TBR and with me not really sticking to it, I am going in hard this week, giving myself FOUR books to try and read this week. I want to come back strong and go for it. Saying this, I did somehow manage to read staggering SIX books last week, but I was in a bit of a funky reading mood, picking up and putting down books, making me unable to stick to a TBR. I was careful with the books I selected this week and hopefully I’ll do better, but I’m also not going to be hard on myself if I don’t read them all. So the four books I’m aiming to read this week are….
I have selected to read The Holiday by T.M. Logan this week. This is a book that I bought in work after seeing it everywhere and honestly that front description “Seven Days, Three Families, One Killer” just hooked me. It’s been on my shelves for a while and I’m in the right kind of mood for a holiday murder book. I’ve recently read Something in the Water and I’m kind of getting that holiday, mystery, murder vibe. I’m also kind of hoping to kind of get the isolation vibe of being trapped on holiday with a killer. There’s so much potential and I hope I haven’t left this book so long to read and let it build up in my mind, that overall I’m going to be left disappointed. It’s also got some good reviews on the book from authors I love, So I’m really excited for this one.
Another book that I have chosen to read is Sanctuary by Luca D’Andrea which is a book that I received in order to review as part of the Amazon Vine Programme. I had never heard of this author before, but this book sounds sooo good and I am so excited to read it, plus it’s been really highly rated so far. This book has been translated from Italian and sounds like a really good thriller that has me eagerly excited to read it. It’s described as a “a fairy tale-esque thriller that will leave readers racing through its pages to keep up with a cat and mouse game between a lunatic crime boss and his desperate, pregnant wife” – how good does that sound?? That’s all I needed to hear before requesting it to read and review. I’ve only read a few translated books in the past, with a varied response, so I’m really hoping that this isn’t going to be a problem.
My third choice this week is kind of a buddy read for this week and it’s The Black Box by Michael Connelly. My partner recently discovered that we have multiple couples of several books on our shelves, but instead of looking at it as a bad thing, we’ve decided to take it in a positive way instead, choosing to read them alongside each other. So expect a few more of these over the next couple of weeks. I don’t really know anything about this book and I’m going to go into it completely blank, leaving everything to be a complete surprise, either positively or in a negative way. I know Michael Connelly is meant to be a good author and that he’s quite popular (as he sells a lot where I currently work), so lets go!
I’ve recently wrote all the books I’ve currently got on my NetGalley list still to review and my Amazon Vine list still to review and put them all together in an oversized mug. Each week I am going to randomly take one of those titles out of the mug ( not being able to see the title) in order to catch up on the books I have left to review. Plus I am really indecisive and this just makes it so much easier for me, plus I’m still allowing myself to read more than one and to read one I’m really in the mood for…
The book I selected this week was Only When It’s Us by Chloe Liese. This was exactly what I was looking for when I when I first requested this from NetGalley and I’m really excited to read and review this book!!
