Book Review: The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle

How do I even begin to talk about this book? I’m still in shock from not only it’s ending but from it in its entirety!

This book is so different from anything I’ve read in such a long time, it’s done in such a brilliant way that it had be hooked from the very beginning. Truth be told, it had me hooked just from its description and from the reviews I had read about it. The way this book is written and the way that the storyline is set up in such a way, is amazing and keeps you guessing, right up until the very end. How everything all links back to each other! It’s very cleverly done. The characters are written so brilliantly, their interactions and even though (with no spoilers) they are meant to be the same character, they are so different and it’s highlighted and executed brilliantly.

Goodreads Book Description:

The Rules of Blackheath
Evelyn Hardcastle will be murdered at 11:00 p.m.
There are eight days, and eight witnesses for you to inhabit.
We will only let you escape once you tell us the name of the killer.
Understood? Then let’s begin…

Evelyn Hardcastle will die. Every day until Aiden Bishop can identify her killer and break the cycle. But every time the day begins again, Aiden wakes up in the body of a different guest. And some of his hosts are more helpful than others..

The most inventive debut of the year twists together a mystery of such unexpected creativity it will leave readers guessing until the very last page”

I have been wanting to read this book for a while for several reason and omg did it hold up. This is one of the few books where there was so much hype surrounding it, for me anyway, and it didn’t disappoint me. I had been seeing this book everywhere and I needed to see why this book was so exciting, plus my surname is Hardcastle, so there was also that aspect that made me pick this up. Like I said, I was not disappointed that I did!!

This book is so creative with writing to match and it doesnt let you down. With an action filled book, and with so much going on, the author does an amazing job of bringing it all together in the end. The way that every character is brought together and create their own individuality, it’s so clever. The way that Aiden Bishop, the main character in this story, uses each day, uses each of the bodies, the characters, their minds, their traits, and how it’s all brought together, is amazing. This book had me thinking the entire time, wondering who, when and why? And so many more questions. And thankfully, I got my questions all answered by the end of the book. Now I just need to know what happened after the book left off… Sequel anyone? But will that also spoil this book because I can imagine my own future for these characters now.

And to think I bought this book because I share the same last name as Evelyn and that doesn’t happen often…. and because of the amazing reviews and hype I read about the book. Of course! I am so glad that I did!!

Hello! My name is Shayney Hardcastle. I am a massive book enthusiast so I created this blog as my own little place where I can write and express my thoughts and review each book I have read. I am 23 and am currently living in a small town in Wales, in the United Kingdom, and love how reading let's me explore the world outside of this small town. I have also recently been sent more and more books and ARC by authors to review and wanted a place to review them that wasn't just on Goodreads and Amazon.
